Materials and Methods Isolation, Desialylation and Radiolabeling of Proteins Human IgA
and IgG were isolated from the sera of patients with myeloma as previously described [10].
Both IgA and IgG preparations were found to be free of other immunoglobulins as judged by
immunoelectrophoresis and double immunodiffusion analysis. Purified IgA was desialylated
as described [11]. The extent of desialylation was monitored by the thiobarbituric assay [12].
