Several lines of evidence suggest a biological role for peroxisome proliferator-activated
receptor (PPARδ) in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Administration of synthetic PPARδ
agonists to obese rhesus monkeys elevates serum high-density lipoprotein (HDL)
